Synopsis
Fifty-year-old Bohouš Fischer (M. Lasica) works as a clerk in a company producing toilet bowls and other sanitary ceramics. He finds no joy in his bureaucratic job and grows increasingly resentful of the meaningless tasks he must report. Bohouš wishes to spend quality time with his wife, children, and engage in meaningful work. However, the machinery of the socialist economy "mercilessly" promotes him to the position of Deputy Director of Economics, forcing him to make even greater compromises. He attends pointless out-of-town meetings funded by company money and cleverly handles a "work-related" injury involving two employees caught in an amorous escapade. His personal life is just as chaotic; to ensure his twin daughters pass their exams, Bohouš contemplates seducing their Russian teacher. This 1989 satirical comedy, created by the renowned duo Ladislav Pecháček and Dušan Klein, is filled with lively situational and verbal humor, and candidly highlights the absurdities of the late 1980s socialist reality. The film premiered in October 1989.
