Synopsis
Christmas is a magical time. It is a season when people often return to traditions, reflecting on the essence and significance of Christianity and its fundamental values, which unfortunately seem somewhat at odds with our contemporary world. This seven-part series aims to remind both children and adults that Christmas carols have always been and continue to be a vital part of our cultural heritage, creating the unique atmosphere of Christmas. The stories are simple, with a focus on the text and melodiousness of the carols, both well-known and lesser-known, highlighting the musicality of Czech, Moravian, and Slovak Christmas folk poetry. The narrative follows several rural musicians from the late 19th century who, accompanied by their children, go from house to house singing carols for joy and small rewards. Little Andulka imagines the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem through a holy image in a chapel the carolers pass by. The musicians visit various craftsmen, both happy and lonely people, bringing the distinctive spirit of Christmas to all.
