Vaclav DVD
Synopsis
Based on true events inspired by presidential pardons granted by Václav Havel (1992-2003). Václav Vingl is a village outsider who, at 40, still lives with his mother. Though perceived as a fool and troublemaker, he is a sensitive, kind-hearted man with a boyish spirit. The villagers see only his problems, even his brother František, who competes with Václav for their parents' love. This clash of worlds leads Václav from one trouble to another, culminating in a conflict over František's lover, Lída, resulting in a crime. Imprisoned and without his mother's protection, Václav faces attacks from inmates and traumatic memories of his father. As he slowly deteriorates, his mother seeks a presidential pardon, requiring a petition from the villagers. Can the village and his brother forgive Václav?
