Synopsis
A unique story of love, dance, and defying death set in the late 1940s. A young man, dance instructor Mayer, arrives at a pulmonary sanatorium with a severe diagnosis of tuberculosis. However, he refuses to succumb to his illness and begins to fight it actively with dance and optimism. Gradually, he inspires other patients who had previously resigned themselves to their fate. Despite his efforts, Mayer's illness eventually worsens. Facing death, he embodies human courage and a positive approach to life. Directed by J. Jireš and based on a screenplay by J. Hubač, the film won the Czech Lion awards in 1995 for Martin Dejdar's leading performance and for Best Sound.
