Description
Toman
Synopsis
This film drama by director and producer Ondřej Trojan explores the rise and fall of a figure whose actions still impact our lives today. It tells the incredible and true story of Zdeněk Toman, a controversial individual who was the head of Czechoslovakia's foreign intelligence service and played a crucial role in post-war Czechoslovakia. Toman was a ruthless operator with immense power, tasked with securing funds to ensure a Communist victory in the elections. He excelled at obtaining money for himself, his family, and his party, through means such as black market deals, extortion, and exploiting both war criminals and their victims. He spared nothing and no one. The cost of his career was high, both for him and his loved ones. The film unveils the era of the so-called Third Republic, the dark years of 1945-48, and the story of a man who was never spoken of. Director Ondřej Trojan not only presents a gripping thriller but also a highly accurate period reconstruction based on irrefutable archival and eyewitness evidence.
