Description
To byl cesky muzikant DVD
Synopsis
Teacher František Kmoch is suspended because he spends his nights playing at dances or composing music. In Kolín, he forms a band, and his supporter, Baron Hrubý, helps him secure a public performance. His music gains popularity not only at home but also abroad. Although the biography of the famous bandmaster and composer František Kmoch from Kolín can be described as idyllic, it took on a symbolic tone at the beginning of the German occupation, with viewers interpreting it as a celebration of Czech culture and resilience. Overlooking its studio-bound nature, the film enjoyed extraordinary success in three premiere cinemas and triumphantly returned to the silver screen after the war, attracting nearly four million viewers. Featuring Kmoch's most famous songs, the film is considered one of the best works directed by Vladimír Slavínský.
