Synopsis
In a small town preparing for a theatrical performance, a humorous and thrilling fairy tale unfolds around the play "The Treasure," which recounts a local legend of an immense fortune hidden deep underground. Among the cast are two sisters, Kačenka and Barborka, and the musician Jakub, Barborka's jealous suitor. The play's theme attracts the greedy nobleman Bořivoj Hájek and his eccentric inventor brother Ignác. Meanwhile, underground, three eerie guardians of the real treasure pass time with various amusements, much to the displeasure of the Ruler of the Underworld. His patience runs out when the guardians interfere with human destinies over a wager on Jakub and Barborka's love. A series of comedic and unfortunate misunderstandings culminates in a perilous treasure hunt by Barborka, Jakub, and Bořivoj, each facing unique challenges and dangers along the way.
