Synopsis
Set in the Ore Mountains during the autumn of 1938, this powerful drama captures the rising tension between Czech and German villagers. Everyday life becomes overshadowed by open conflicts, hitting mixed families the hardest. As the Munich Agreement forces the cession of borderlands, some Czech residents refuse to surrender their homes, clashing with Henlein’s followers. Yet in the end, higher orders prevail, and many are forced to leave for the interior. The film, directed by Jiří Weiss in his feature debut, reflects his documentary background with a striking sense of realism.
