Description
The Star Called Wormwood / Hvezda zvana Pelynek DVD
Synopsis
The idea of freedom is sweet, but rebellions often have bitter ends... In late May 1918, soldiers return to the barracks in Rumburk from Russian captivity. Among them is Franta Noha, a former circus performer. Soldiers and officers frequent the local wine bar U růže, where the main attraction is the well-endowed singer and dancer Tonka. However, the barracks are ruled by the traditional Austrian drill, and the soldiers grow increasingly discontent. Their patience runs out when they learn they are to be sent back to the front. Influenced by the October Revolution in Russia, the returnees know how to act. They seize the police station, the post office, and the train station. Unfortunately, due to the misconduct of an undisciplined soldier, their rebellion ends in tragedy.
