Description
The Sorcerer's Apprentice / Carodejuv ucen DVD
Synopsis
A magical story about Krabat, originally from India and later appearing in various forms of the battle between a sorcerer's apprentice and master in many countries around the world. It is the tale of a boy on the cusp of adulthood, drawn to dark forces and fascinated by them until he realizes they could destroy him. This retelling of the Sorbian legend of Krabat (Krawat, Chorvat) from the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries in Silesian Upper Lusatia is presented in the inimitable style of Czech film master Karel Zeman, based on the book by Liberec native Otfried Preussler. The Sorcerer's Apprentice is about the power of the heart, which cannot be changed and governs our emotions and actions, capable of being a source of both hatred and love, anger, envy, or joy. These forces can be used for good or evil (or white and black magic, as it was once called). In this eternal struggle, only a path of strong will and belief in love leads to liberation from the snares of evil.
