Synopsis
A colorful Czech film about the outstanding Czech doctor, Dr. Jan Janský. Athletically inclined medical student Jan Janský successfully completes his studies, aspiring to become a surgeon. However, he finds himself at the psychiatric clinic of Professor Kuffner, where he and his colleague Kozdera seek to discover a connection between blood clotting and mental illnesses. They arrive at the surprising conclusion that human blood can be classified into four groups, thus preventing blood clotting during transfusions. Janský's discovery, however, is met with misunderstanding by the Czech medical community, which only recognizes his contribution to medical science after his tragic death.
