Description

The Wedding Ring + Mrs. Dulska' s morals / Prstynek + Moralka pani Dulske DVD
Synopsis
The Wedding Ring / Prstynek

Renowned poacher Jan Sochor fiercely opposes the young prince courting his daughter Baruška. He remembers all too well his own youth and his contributions to preserving the princely lineage. The costume comedy "The Ring" was directed by Martin Frič, based on Ivan Olbracht's short story "Father," from his collection "Nine Merry Tales from Austria and the Republic." Screenwriters Josef Neuberg and Josef Hlaváč, along with the director, significantly expanded and developed the original short story. Their interpretation transformed the source material into a romantic depiction of old times, lightened with gentle irony and spontaneous humor. The direction was light, witty, and fresh, with a strong poetic touch, complemented by the outdoor cinematography of Václav Hanuš and Julius Vegricht. The acting was led by the popular Otomar Korbelář in the delightful double role of both young and old Jan Sochor. Zdeněk Dítě made his debut as the young prince Robert, with the charming Jana Dítětová playing his stepsister. Alongside Otomar Korbelář, Vlasta Fabianová had a significant role as Princess Andresová. After her successful debut in the film "Pohádka máje" and notable roles in "Rukavička" and "Tanečnice," she demonstrated her undeniable talent and captivated audiences with her striking appearance and spirited performance. "The Ring" was the last Czech film released before the end of the war, premiering in mid-February 1945 in three of Prague's largest cinemas to an enthusiastic audience. The film continues to be warmly received by viewers to this day.

The strict mother wants to dismiss Hanka for her immoral behavior. Disgusted by his mother's hypocrisy, Zbyšek decides to marry Hanka despite her objections.
