The Princess with the Golden Star / Princezna se zlatou hvezdou DVD
Synopsis
The Princess with the Golden Star is a loose adaptation of a Slovak folk tale recorded by Božena Němcová, a devoted collector of folk storytelling treasures. The motifs of this fairy tale, first published in 1846 in the collection "National Fairy Tales and Legends," were utilized over a century later by poet, playwright, and filmmaker K. M. Walló. He wrote a rhymed play for children based on the tale, which premiered in the autumn of 1955 at the Jiří Wolker Theatre in Prague. This play later became the basis for the film script of the same fairy tale, directed by Martin Frič in 1959. The classic film fairy tale features the beautiful Princess Lada, adorned with a golden star on her forehead, her kind but somewhat lenient father, the malevolent King Kazisvět who invades the kingdom and demands the princess's hand, the wise nursemaid, and the just Prince Radovan. Additionally, there is the mouse fur coat that conceals the princess's beauty as she escapes from the kingdom.
