Synopsis
Countryman Josef Bezoušek travels to Prague for an extended visit with his son's family. Welcomed warmly by his son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughters, Josef quickly adapts to city life and enjoys the urban attractions. During his stay, he inadvertently becomes involved in the story of a forbidden love affair involving his son's sister-in-law. She has fallen for a poor young man, but her father disapproves and keeps her confined at home. Josef finds himself at the center of this affair, facing trouble. Though he could endure the inconvenience, he decides to resolve the situation for the benefit of the unhappy lovers before leaving Prague. The film features a segment of the National Theatre's production of "The Bartered Bride," directed by Josef Munclinger. This story was previously adapted into a film by Karel Lamač in 1926. The film premiered at the Film Harvest Festival in Zlín on July 31, 1941.
