Synopsis
The gripping story of the physician and politician František Kriegel captures the dramatic events of August 21, 1968, when he was arrested and taken to Moscow along with the leading representatives of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (Alexander Dubček, Oldřich Černík, Josef Smrkovský, Josef Špaček, Bohumil Šimon). Kriegel was the only Czechoslovak politician who, despite threats of elimination, stood up to Leonid Brezhnev in captivity and refused to sign the Moscow Protocol, a document consenting to the occupation of Czechoslovakia. This cinematic drama, starring Tomáš Töpfer, reveals the monstrosity of the communist regime, focusing on the hero of the Prague Spring and the most intense period of his life as well as the modern history of Czechoslovakia.
