Description
The Idiot Returns / Navrat Idiota Remastered DVD
Synopsis
In this intimate contemporary story set in a small town between Christmas and New Year's, a young man named František returns to his distant relatives after spending years in a mental institution. These people should be close to him, but he soon becomes entangled in their complex relationships. František finds himself in awkward, comic, and oppressive situations, facing romantic, sibling, and parental conflicts. Everything he encounters affects him deeply, and he empathizes with everyone, which makes him seem a bit like an idiot. However, because he has yet to experience much of life, he is able to perceive human relationships in their purest and most genuine form. In his second feature film, director and screenwriter Saša Gedeon focuses on the tragicomic maze of emotional confusion among young people. He draws inspiration from the titular hero Prince Myshkin in Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel The Idiot.
