Synopsis
Perinbaba, a mythical being (Giulietta Masina), controls the weather on Earth from her magical cave world. Using a giant feather bed as a trampoline, she unleashes timely snowstorms, while her magical organ controls the winds. One day, she saves little Jakub, the child of traveling performers, from Death (Viera Kaplanová). Unafraid, the brave boy helps Perinbaba make snow and watches people live and die on Earth through magical mirrors. He becomes captivated by Alžbětka, the young daughter of a village magistrate, whose mother has been taken away by Death, leaving her to be raised by a greedy stepmother. Despite Perinbaba's warnings, Jakub escapes to the human world to find Alžbětka. In that moment, he grows into a mortal young man, and driven by love, this courageous young man is ready to make even greater sacrifices.
