The End of Poets in Bohemia / Konec basniku v Cechach Remastered DVD
Synopsis
The adult Štěpán Šafránek has lost much of his youthful spirit. No longer reciting poetry to girls, his defiance against various troubles is now tinged with bitter irony. When Kendy films a hospital report, he edits Štěpán's answers to sound like mockery towards the ambitious director, resulting in Štěpán being fired. Returning to his hometown of Hradiště, he struggles to find work while his friends succeed in business. Disappointing encounters with former loves leave him disheartened, finding solace only in Ute, a reserved pharmacist who keeps him at a distance. A former classmate arranges a well-paid job at a private clinic treating wealthy patients with sexual disorders, but Štěpán soon leaves, disliking the work. The only money he earns is from supplying ideas to an advertising agency run by his former love rival, Emil Nádeníček. In the end, Štěpán finally seems to find what he is looking for.
