Synopsis
In the land of King Dobromil (J. Somr), honesty, hard work, and respect among people have ceased to be valued. Instead, the influence of evil gradually infiltrates the country, causing those who still hold onto decency to flee. Eccentric herbalist Apolena (I. Janžurová) dreams that a "savior" will come on a donkey and marry the king's daughter Anička (T. Pauhofová), thus saving the land. However, who would believe the herbalist, whose miraculous potions always cause more harm than good? When the kingdom is at its worst, the king, in desperation, sells his soul to hell, and power falls into the hands of his wicked minister (J. Lábus). At that moment, a humble, cheerful dreamer named Filip (Š. Kubišta) arrives in the kingdom. When Apolena sees him with a donkey, she is convinced that he is the miraculous savior. Little does anyone know, he is actually the prince from a neighboring kingdom.
