Synopsis
The Deluge (Polish: Potop) is a 1974 Polish historical drama directed by Jerzy Hoffman, adapted from Henryk Sienkiewicz's 1886 novel. Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 47th Academy Awards, it eventually lost to Amarcord. Regarded as the third-most popular film in Polish cinema history, it sold over 27.6 million tickets domestically by 1987 and 30.5 million in the Soviet Union. Widely acclaimed as one of Poland's finest films, it's celebrated for its exceptional portrayal of sword fights in cinematic history.
