Synopsis
A delightful adaptation of Henryk Sienkiewicz's novel. The main character, Andrzej Kmicic, an officer from Orszany, fights for the heart of beautiful Oleńka Billewiczówna, becoming a model of bravery and courage. Jerzy Hoffman's film, conceived from the outset as a great national epic, confirmed the director's talent in producing superproductions. "Potop", on which work lasted more than five years, attracted an audience of many millions to cinemas, and in 1975 received an Oscar nomination in the category of non-English language film.
