Synopsis
A young man from Prague transfers to a small village school as a teacher, seeking an escape from his dead-end relationships and hoping to find himself and a new path in life. Gradually, he forms connections with the locals, particularly with a divorced farmer and her teenage son. However, human relationships are complex, especially in Bohdan Sláma's films. The teacher loves the son, whose mother is in love with him, and the son loves a girl who eludes him... In this film, loves pass by unfulfilled, but the focus lies in the pain of their souls, captured by the director without pathos yet with understanding and poignancy, and the search for redemption through mutual forgiveness. Coming to terms with differences is a complicated process... Pavel Liška, in the lead role, skillfully portrays the emotions of a man trapped in the locked circle of his soul and his fate.
