Synopsis
1940, World War II. The first transport of deported prisoners arrives at the newly established Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz. Among them is Tadeusz "Teddy" Pietrzykowski, a former boxing champion from Warsaw. Forced by the guards, he must fight in the ring for his life and the lives of his fellow prisoners. Each victory strengthens the prisoners' belief that the Nazis are not invincible, but the guards at Auschwitz notice the growing resistance and defiance among the inmates. Confrontation with the administration and responsible individuals becomes inevitable. Maciej Barczewski's biographical drama, based on true events, tells the story of one of the first inmates of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, prisoner number 77.
