Synopsis
Concentration camp commander Walter Kraft (M. Krug) is an amateur boxer who maintains his fitness in a well-equipped gym while the malnourished prisoners are forced to work hard all day. Escape attempts are punished with immediate death. Among a group of captured escapees is Slovak Ján Komínek (Š. Kvietik). By chance, Kraft discovers that the emaciated young man is also an amateur boxer. Needing a sparring partner for training, Kraft spares Komínek from death and the duty to work, and instructs his assistant Willi (E. Marian) to "fatten up" the prisoner. Initially, Komínek cannot match the commander in the ring, but soon it becomes apparent that Kraft is a poor athlete and that Komínek is capable of knocking him down. However, this is not about winning a boxing match, nor is it about fair play rules. Komínek knows well that he is fighting for his life—and not just his own...
