Synopsis
A fairy tale film where animated characters play alongside actors. Podlesí is a small village that was ravaged by war with the Turks years ago. Good mushroom fairies were asked for help back then, but because they performed both good and evil simultaneously, they were punished and turned into mushroom babies. A curse fell upon Podlesí as a result. Now it's time to make amends, but a Dragon has appeared in the village. While Toník tries to save his beloved Bětka from the clutches of the evil fairies, his uncle Kovář, along with his employees Veverka and Křeček, sets out to confront the Dragon. The main idea of the fairy tale is that evil cannot be fought with brute force, but rather with intelligence, heart, and courage. Kovář z Podlesí has the leisurely pace of classic fairy tales and tells the story without unnecessary haste, focusing on the battle between good and evil, as in every fairy tale. And because it's "a fairy tale where everything is a bit different," neither good nor evil is entirely clear-cut, and just like the plot of the film, its ending is unexpected and original.
