Synopsis
The Novák family is ruled with an iron fist by their pedantic father, burdening them with early arrivals and a plethora of prohibitions and commands. While his wife, an editor at a puzzle magazine, obediently adheres to the regime, daughter Míša begins to outgrow her father. An energetic grandmother, Mrs. Nováková, adds confusion to family life with her frequent visits. It's no wonder that when the father goes away to a spa, paradise ensues at home. Prohibitions are broken, commands ignored, and things left uncleaned. However, paradise turns to chaos the moment the curious wife opens a letter intended for her husband, revealing his illegitimate child. Friend advises retaliation with infidelity, grandmother takes drastic measures toward divorce, and unsuspecting Mr. Novák, from regular phone calls, believes the child in question belongs to Míša. The climax comes when grandmother spots Míša with her boyfriend Tomáš, followed by Tomáš's peculiar introduction to the Novák family. But that's not the end of the surprises for everyone.
