Synopsis
In the secluded woods, the Hanák family has resided for four generations. The grandmother, a vibrant soul, channels her energy into writing detective novels. Mrs. Hanáková, her daughter, a determined woman with a big heart, adores singing but ended up a cook due to her lack of talent. Mr. Hanák, a stationmaster, nurtures animals of all kinds, a lifelong passion. Their older daughter, Pavla, and her husband, Petr, parents to two hyperactive boys known as the "Rogues," form part of the bustling household. Then there's Mr. Poštolka, who inexplicably spends an abundance of time there! On an ordinary family afternoon, the younger daughter, Káča, announces her pregnancy and intention to marry Zdeněk. Despite his mother's objections, Zdeněk becomes part of the Hanák household, subject to their scrutiny. As Zdeněk navigates the challenges, including a wedding and adapting to a seemingly normal family, new developments disrupt their loving yet eccentric environment. "Such a Normal Family" is a feature film adaptation of one of the most beloved Czech television series, inspired by Fan Vavřincová's book. It captures the essence of the original series while introducing fresh twists and turns, appealing to audiences across generations. It's a tale of human foibles, comic and absurd situations inherent in multi-generational living, underscored by solidarity, tolerance, and love that binds the family through thick and thin.
