Synopsis
Professor Vlk (F. Smolík) teaches at a business academy in Prague using textbooks he wrote himself. His students must memorize the lessons word for word. However, three of them - Karel Toman (R. Hrušínský), Vašek Pelíšek (J. Kemr), and Ivan Javorský (V. Salač) - start an internship during the holidays with businessman Josef Vichra (F. Kreuzmann) and are horrified to discover that their memorized knowledge is useless in real life. They may know which form serves what purpose, but they struggle to fill it out correctly, just as they struggle to write a business letter. When Karel dares to confront the professor about this later at school, a problem arises. Vlk has no intention of changing his "proven" teaching methods and instead proposes Karel's expulsion from the academy. The fate of the brave student is now in the hands of the faculty, who must vote on the matter, but primarily in the hands of Professor Vlk...
