Description
Synopsis
An old-fashioned comedy about an umbrella that performed more than one miracle. It's the year 1873 in Banská Bystrica, and old Mr. Gregorič, whose immense wealth was the envy of all his relatives, has just passed away. Everyone is shocked when the reading of his will reveals that he sold off most of his assets before his death, leaving almost no money behind. The worst off is his son Juraj, who inherited only the personal belongings, all of which are auctioned off, including his father's umbrella taken by a wandering old man. During a storm while passing through the mountain village of Glogové, the old man sees a newborn in a cradle, placed there by the local priest's sister. Feeling pity for the child, he opens the umbrella over it and then continues on his journey. The villagers begin to attribute this act to Saint Peter, believing he protected the child, and they start to associate various miracles with the umbrella, turning it into a holy relic. Years later, Juraj, now a promising lawyer, is still bitter about his lost inheritance. One day, he happens to speak with an old acquaintance of his father, who reveals that his father always hid money in the handle of his umbrella...
