Synopsis
The story, penned by Vladimír Körner and directed by Milan Cieslar, unfolds a balladic tale of a teenage girl, Grétka, from the Silesian borderlands, who is swept into the Nazi Lebensborn program aimed at cultivating a pure Nordic race. Young Grétka Weiserová (M. Hilmerová) is sent under the guise of tuberculosis x-ray prevention to the forest sanatorium Isolde. Initially, she is unaware of her mission. She does not know that she passed the re-education process thanks to a teacher who wanted to help her to a better life after her mother's death and a twist of fate, as she was born on the same day as Heinrich Himmler, the second most powerful man in the Third Reich. Along with other "chosen" girls, she undergoes Nazi indoctrination to eventually secure racially pure offspring for Hitler's Germany.
