Synopsis
Extraordinary Miracles of Ordinary Loves follows the interconnected lives of three childhood friends, Monika, Toník, and Dáša, who grew up together in the same apartment complex. Monika works at a supermarket and is preparing to join her boyfriend in America, while Toník, who harbors feelings for her, lives a nonconformist life on a farm. Dáša, struggling with her mental health and responsibilities as a single mother, becomes dependent on Monika when she is hospitalized. When Monika receives a plane ticket from her boyfriend for Christmas, she faces a choice between her planned future in America and the sudden responsibilities of caring for Dáša's children, finding support in Toník who steps up, hoping to build a semblance of family life. This poignant narrative, directed by Bohdan Sláma, explores themes of friendship, sacrifice, and the elusive nature of happiness, and builds on the success of Sláma's debut film Wild Bees.
