Synopsis
In this charming story, pharmacist Pavlovský wishes to marry off his modern, sports-loving pharmacist son Karel and sends him to Kutná Hora to meet his friend Řepa’s marriageable daughter, Miroslava. Raised strictly by her conservative parents, Miroslava lacks charm. Karel also encounters his uncle Ambrož, who leads a double life as a respected elder by day and a secret theatre performer by night. Disenchanted with Miroslava, Karel joins Ambrož on a night out, but after drinking too much, he mistakenly ends up in Miroslava's room, leading to a misunderstanding that results in their engagement. During her parents' absence, Miroslava transforms herself into a modern woman named Slávka with exercise, a new hairstyle, and fashionable clothes. Her parents are initially shocked but eventually accept her change when they realize that Karel is now eager to marry this new version of Miroslava.
