Synopsis
Mařenka Berková, a kind-hearted daughter from a respectable family, is pressured by her father to marry a diligent bank clerk whom she doesn't love. The only person who understands her is her grandmother, in whose company Mařenka meets a charming pianist. During a rendezvous in a winter garden, the young man keeps her glove as a token of love. Nataša Gollová, who played Mařenka, was a leading star of Czech cinema in the 1930s and 40s. 'Rukavička', a romantic film directed by Jan Alfréd Holman in 1941 based on Václav Řezáč's story 'Milostná bloudění', features her in the main role. The title song 'Rukavička' by Jiří Srnka is performed by Otomar Korbelář. The film also has a documentary value, showcasing the Czech Philharmonic conducted by Karel Šejna and the FOK Orchestra led by Otakar Pařík, with piano solos by Josef Páleníček and Otakar Haša.
