Synopsis
Smoke, the Czech answer to the Rolling Stones, mysteriously disbanded in 1972. Each of the four musicians faced their post-rock life differently. After a long separation and divergent paths, their reasons for a band reunion vary – from monetary gains, a longing for lost fame, to helping a friend and reliving the adrenaline of rock. They confront family commitments, health issues, and the daunting quest to understand why they originally split. Milan, the keyboardist, initiates the reunion, struggling to maintain his façade as a successful entrepreneur, influenced by his young wife, Ivanka. Despite having everything – a recording studio, attractive wife, daughter, and a luxury lifestyle – Milan can hardly keep up with the demands of his life. Karel, the guitarist, influenced by his new-age partner Yvonne, is reluctant to return to rock. He has been living a lifestyle far removed from his rocker days, under Yvonne's strict influence. Václav, the bass guitarist, a kind-hearted man from Moravia, faces complicated relationships with his son Vojta, who leads a popular band and disapproves of his father's musical endeavors. Otakar, the frontman, still embodies the spirit of a true rocker despite his age. He holds a secret close to his chest, not ready to share with the others. Adding to the mix is a suspicious manager with hidden motives and his daughter Miriam, who seeks an identity beyond being her father's pawn. And not to forget, there's the blind drummer, an integral part of this eclectic group. 'Smoke' is a story of rediscovery, reconciliation, and the enduring spirit of rock, despite the challenges and secrets each member harbors.
