Description
Prazsky pisnickar 5x DVD
Synopsis
The five-part series The Prague Songwriter by Gustav Oplustil and director Ivo Paukert introduces viewers not only to the work but also to the life of Karel Hašler. Until now, attention had focused mainly on his songs, while his life remained taboo — both during the Nazi occupation and the later totalitarian regime. A true patriot in body and soul, Hašler despised the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, German fascism, and Russian Bolshevism, which brought him persecution both in life and after death. Born on October 31, 1879, in Zlíchov, he was tortured to death as a political prisoner in the Mauthausen concentration camp on December 22, 1941.
