Synopsis
The story unfolds on an evening, with a young child lying in her bed. It's like a fairy tale strung on a silver thread: a shepherd boy leads sheep across a narrow bridge, where they can only pass one at a time. The first sheep, then the second, third, fourth... These sheep enter the dreams of a little girl whose home is the hospital. Hana (played by Ž. Fuchsová) is a child with a severe heart defect, spending more time in the hospital than in a children’s home. Her home is the hospital room, with the head doctor "grandpa" (V. Brodský), the nurses, and especially with the janitor Anežka (V. Galatíková), to whom little Hanka feels closest. This story, titled "Counting Sheep," does not seek to evoke tears of pity. If tears come, they should arise from the realization that the ordinary human heart is the greatest force against pain.
