Synopsis
The film consists of three short stories based on the literary works of Peter Karvaš. Each story delves into different social critiques: the right to private grief, the criticism of propagandistic lies in newspapers, and the issue of alcoholism in the workplace. These narratives are interconnected through the meetings of a fictional committee tasked with evaluating the criticality of the approved film. This feature-length debut by directors Peter Solan and František Žáček is one of the first products of the slight relaxation in the political atmosphere of Czechoslovakia in the mid-1950s.
