Description
Pavla Melkova: The Gravitational Field of the Inexpressible / Gravitacni pole nevyslovitelneho (english)
Synopsis
In the publication Gravitational Field of the Ineffable, the dialogue between the language of poetry and visual art meets. The book is a record of a dialogue between the eminent English sculptor Antony Gormley and the Czech poet Pavla Melkova, in which the affinity of the goal of the sought-after and the two languages on the way to it gradually emerged. The lines of the words of the poem and the lines of the drawing are traces of approaching the shape of the essence - the world, our life, relationships, situations. They are traces of its circling, strokes of imagination. The strokes of the words of the poetry and the strokes of the lines of the drawings in this book circle the same centre and unfold from the same horizon. The crossing of the traces refines the outline. Immersed in the strokes through consciousness, one common language emerges. And therein lies the meaning of their meeting. The book is published bilingually, so as to be a full dialogue between the two authors and accessible in both language environments. It is also an important contribution in bringing Antony Gormley closer to the Czech reader, about whom no publication has been published in the Czech language so far. The book also interprets Antony Gormley's drawings, which have not yet been similarly captured in books.
