Synopsis
A powerful psychodrama based on a story by Simona Monyová about emotional blackmail and a dangerous, even pathological, relationship between a man and a woman. The film Self-Lover, directed by Filip Renč and produced by the Creative Producer Group of Dramatic Production led by David Ziegelbauer, concludes the trilogy inspired by Simona Monyová's books. Is being alone truly the worst fate in life? This question is answered through the tragic love story of Libuše (Simona Stašová) and Ota (Jaromír Dulava). Successful businesswoman Libuše, who is at the peak of her mature age, receives an unexpected birthday surprise from her two best friends. Through this surprise, the lonely Libuše meets the charming "cowboy" Ota, who brings love and joy into her life. However, Libuše's happiness is short-lived, and her euphoric feeling of a new beginning is soon replaced by stress and suffering. In this beautifully and chillingly told story, the screenwriters reflect the life of author Simona Monyová, whose literary work of the same name inspired the creation of this film.
