Synopsis
A Czech crazy comedy reminiscent of the folktale about the simpleton who outsmarted all the villains and gained everything that such heroes deserve. In this story, the simpleton is named Vít Dolejší, commonly known as Vitoušek. He works in the basement of the National Theatre, monitoring groundwater levels, until he is laid off when the theatre is taken over by nuns. Vitoušek then inherits the Richmond Hotel in Karlovy Vary and five million dollars from his grandfather in America, contingent on quickly renovating the hotel. This throws him into a web of schemes involving a wealthy swindler called Boss, the hotel manager and former secret police officer Křiváček, and a cunning lawyer named Wágner. Besides the large sum of money at stake, Vitoušek also falls for Alice, a notorious gambler, and eventually shows everyone that he is not as foolish as they thought.
