Synopsis
Baron Jan Dolanský, a childless widower, devotes his love and care to his nephew Max. Concerned about the future of his lineage and seeing Max as overly delicate, the baron decides to find him a robust and healthy bride, disregarding her background and education. He finds the perfect match in Madla, the eldest of twelve children of widow Lísková. Determined to shape Madla into a perfect young lady worthy of Max, the baron undertakes her transformation at his castle. This story was one of the roles that established the great popularity of actress Lída Baarová. Director Vladimír Slavínský was among the most commercially successful Czech filmmakers, known for his energy, reliability, diligence, and perseverance. He openly catered to the desires of the broad audience, stating, "I want the audience to be satisfied. Why not give the viewers what they ask for when they are paying for it? I don't want to gamble with the audience's wishes, who are the masters in cinemas.
