Synopsis
Ladislav Labus is one of the best Czech architects of today and his work has been gaining great respect and popularity not only among the professional public for several decades. The publication now summarises his work to date, including award-winning new buildings, such as the latest apartment blocks in Prague's Modřany and Smíchov, and the remarkable social services home in Český Krumlov, as well as quite exceptional reconstructions: the Langhans Palace in Prague, for which he was awarded the Grand Prix of the Architects' Association, the Edison Transformation Stations in Prague, and the Prague Castle Riding Hall. The rich photographic documentation of his projects is intertwined with texts by his collaborators and friends, who map the various areas of Labus's extensive oeuvre in a readable and erudite manner, but they also focus on his long teaching career and the transformation of the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University under his leadership as dean.
