Synopsis
Businessman Fred Baron is on the brink of suicide due to his inability to pay bills and debts owed to Mr. Haller, which he accrued at Linde's gambling house. His suicide attempt is interrupted by adventurer Ronny, who promises to help him. While searching for documents in Haller's mansion, Ronny meets the owner's daughter Eva, who is being forced by her father to marry Linde, a blackmailer. Ronny discovers that Linde is producing counterfeit money in his gambling house. He suggests to Baron that he should win back his money where he lost it and promises Haller to ensure Eva doesn't have to marry Linde. However, Ronny is captured and imprisoned in the gambling house. Meanwhile, Ronny's servant Valentin goes to the Hallers' in search of him and is attacked by the butler Josef. Eva witnesses this, frees Valentin, and they both rush to the gambling house, which is already surrounded by police. Linde manages to escape in a car, taking Eva with him. Ronny, along with the police, gives chase. Eva safely jumps from the car just before it crashes. It is revealed that Ronny is not an adventurer but a captain of the secret police on a mission to dismantle the counterfeit money operation.
