Synopsis
A charming Czech children’s film Krakonoš and the Skiers tells the story of poor glassmakers, a mysterious modern-day Krakonoš, and the discovery of a brand-new invention - skis. Set on the snowy slopes of the Krkonoše Mountains at the turn of the century, the tale follows brothers Matěj, Jeník, and Franěk, who help in glassworks while customs officers chase a clever smuggler escaping easily on Norwegian skis. When the boys meet him, he gifts them a pair of the “flying planks” after they help him evade capture. Soon, skiing fever spreads through the village - even the teacher and young forester take it up enthusiastically. Amid local theater rehearsals and grand celebrations, the smugglers’ final chase unfolds in this playful story about courage, friendship, and invention.
