Description
The Candidate / Kandidat DVD
Synopsis
In today's world, information is the most valuable commodity. The film Kandidát exposes the immense power of the media, which can manipulate events and influence the global stage. The story unfolds behind the scenes of a presidential campaign with only two months to the election. Adam Lambert, a successful and influential advertising agency owner, takes on a lucrative assignment to run a campaign for an unremarkable, small-town businessman, aiming merely to stir political waters and siphon votes from the opposition. Accustomed to manipulating others without scruples and always achieving his goals, Lambert impulsively makes a bet with his rival, Ivan Muller, who represents the clear favorite in the race, wagering approximately seven million euros and all his assets on this unknown candidate. Swearing to make this underdog the new president in the first round, Kandidát depicts the cynical manipulations on the political scene, a sharp critique of a society easily swayed by the wealthy and powerful, where the lines between truth and illusion, good and evil, are increasingly blurred.
