Synopsis
This 1933 Czech musical comedy revolves around entrepreneurial chambermaid and marital infidelity, all unveiled by a train accident. Businessman Jakub Kaliba (F. Smolík), happily married to the much younger and beautiful Irena (L. Baarová), finds family life dull and frequently cheats on his wife. Unbeknownst to him, Irena is newly charmed by the handsome Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Zdeněk Hradil (P. Trojan). Both spouses spend a wild night with their respective companions while maintaining perfect alibis. Kaliba enjoys a night out with his friend Felix (L. Veverka) and the uninhibited masseuse Anna Maria Vesela (L. Hermanová), pretending to be at a boring alumni party. Meanwhile, Irena seeks refuge in Hradil's bedroom, feigning a train trip with her aunt from Brno. Everything seems to go according to plan until a newspaper's night edition reports an accident involving Irena's train… This frolicsome Czech operetta comedy is adapted from the French playwright Léo Marchese's farce "Une Petite femme dans le train." Shortly before, director Karel Anton had produced a French version of the film, sharing the title with the original play.
