Synopsis
Johancino Tajemstvi is an extravagant Czech-Slovak co-production fairy tale exploring the consequences of not receiving even a drop of luck from the Fates. Directed by J. Nvota, this movie narrates the story of a humble girl, Johanka, who nearly loses her chance at happiness due to an irresponsible Fate. However, her perseverance and talent, aided by chaotic magic, turn everything around for the better. The tale begins with three Fates rushing to the cradle of a newborn. Each Fate has a gift: one for exceptional traits, another for life's obstacles, and the third for happiness. But what happens when the last Fate, Tea (E. Vášáryová), fails her duty? The film, filled with tension, humor, and surprises, follows Johanka (D. Zeleníková) as she navigates these challenges. The story includes a stubborn king (O. Vetchý), a queen (S. Tobias), a headstrong prince (F. Cíl), and his equally willful sister (Kristína). Facing adversities from a greedy uncle and a wicked cousin, Johanka is protected by the fair Tea. As in many fairy tales and sometimes in life, it's great love that helps Johanka overcome destiny's hurdles, though it's not an easy path.
