Description
Jaroslav Hasek's Exemplary Cinematograph / Vzorny kinematograf Haska Jaroslava DVD
Synopsis
Around 1900, in a fairground booth, Jaroslav Hašek humorously projects four film stories, each offering a satirical glimpse into the life of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The stories include "Vzorná škola mocnářství" (Exemplary School of Monarchy), presenting a comical view of the monarchy's education system; "Vzorné rodinné štěstí" (Exemplary Family Happiness), which likely satirizes the concept of family life among the upper class; "Otec chudých" (Father of the Poor), possibly portraying a humorous figure revered as a benefactor of the poor; and "Vzorná láska lepších lidí" (Exemplary Love of Better People), a story that might mock the romantic entanglements of the aristocracy. These tales are complemented by the witty commentary of Jan Werich, adding an extra layer of humor and critique to this unique portrayal of the imperial era.
