Synopsis
Janosik (1921) is a historic Slovak silent film directed by Jaroslav Siakel, depicting the legendary hero Juraj Jánošík. Filmed in the scenic surroundings of Blatnica in Veľká Fatra, it features Theodor Pištěk in the lead role and showcases the life and exploits of the famed outlaw. Despite initial popularity, the film was nearly lost until it was rediscovered and brought back to Slovakia decades later. A milestone in Slovak cinema, it remains a testament to early filmmaking and the Jánošík legend.
