Synopsis
The Garden Store film trilogy, set before the events of Cosy Dens (1999), consists of three standalone films portraying the lives of three families over 20 years during critical periods of the last century. It includes stories of an air force radiotelegraphist's family, a hair salon owner's family, and a garden store owner's family. The segment "Family Friend" is a melodrama set in the 1940s during the German occupation. It focuses on three young women and two children waiting for their imprisoned husbands and fathers. Dr. Jiří, a family friend, selflessly aids the makeshift family unit. The film narrates a tale of unfulfilled love, loyalty, desire, guilt, and affection, encapsulating themes of departures, returns, and the familial bond, all through the perspective of women brought together by fate.
